Honda has been selling reliable lawn products for more than 40 years. But on October 3rd, 2022, it announced that Honda to discontinue lawn mowers by September 2023. The leftover mowers will be offered in the next year (2024) until it is sold out. This decision was taken because of the stricter environmental regulations and changing customer preferences.
Although Honda stopped making lawn mowers in the North Carolina facility, it will continue producing its mowers line in the France facility.
Covid-19 effect on Honda production facilities
Covid-19 left unrecoverable marks on the economies, and no business stood the same. The products include lawnmowers, mini tillers, snow throwers, string trimmers, and portable generators.
Honda has invested more than $350 million in the Swepson Ville plant, with a more than $64 million expansion plan announced in 2020.
Their announcement regarding discontinuing lawn mowers has shocked everyone; read further to know the reason behind this.
Does Honda Stopped Making Lawn Mowers?
Honda’s gardening tools have been among the best as they used to last and bear all environments. Then why did Honda stop making mowers? Not one factor contributed to and made Honda stop the production of mowers.
People complained about the last model Honda launched, saying that the design could have been better. Also, they reported issues with the exposed underneath deck part where the belt runs around the engine pulley. When they used to mow damp grass, it clogged up in part, and the belt came out. You have to open it up entirely to clean the part. It took them more than an hour and was not worth it.
Other than that, Honda stopped production of mowers because the line was not as profitable as the others; they will continue the lines with more profits. So, the category they are earning the least profit will be discontinued.
